The Mayor Welcomed two Teams
For two of the 1004 teams at this year’s Dana Cup, the start of the tournament will be one to remember. IR Academy in California in the USA in B14 and JVW Academy in South Africa in G17 were actually welcomed by the mayor of Hjørring Arne Boelt. The teams represent all the girls and boys at this year’s Dana Cup. The two teams had been selected by the management of Dana Cup in order to officially open this year’s tournament at the town hall.
Here Arne Boelt welcomed the players to Hjørring wishing everybody a great week. As a proof of the visit the mayor handed out small presents to all the players and managers.
Dana Cup’s CEO Jette Andersen also welcomed everybody to the 38th edition of the Dana Cup disclosing that the mayor had actually been a referee in his youth. The founder of JVW Academy, Janine van Wyk, and manager at IR Academy, Mirzo Alickovic, used the opportunity to thank the mayor, who also received a fine present from the USA.
Before the visit at the town hall representatives from the two teams, the mayor and Hjørring’s event manager Krumme lit the flame at the City Stage in the town centre, herewith, officially signalling that the Dana Cup 2019 is now open.
