We are going to #DanaCup2019
We are a club from south Stockholm. Our club was founded back in 1921, so we are coming up to our 100 year anniversary! We are a small club with approx. 400 players aged between 5-15 years of age. Roughly, the same number of girls and boys. Our club welcomes everybody who wants to play football. We have no paid staff or trainers and rely solely on parents volunteering.
Girls F12 (born 2007) have played together since they were 5 years old. We have a squad of 23 girls. Some have been playing since we started up 7 years ago, while others have joined along the way. Now 11 of these girls are going to the Dana Cup Hjørring 2019!
It is our first visit to the Dana Cup Hjørring, for both the team and the club. These girls have been to countless cups in and around Stockholm and some further afield but this is our first cup abroad.
We are of course hoping to do well in our group and play a lot of great football. But more than that we are expecting to have a lot of fun together, on and off the pitch. Both with the team but also with our accompanying families who will all be staying together at a nearby camping site. The girls are getting in the mood by watching the Women’s World Cup and cheering the Swedish women along.
We support all the Global Goals and think that are all equally important and after talking to the girls some goals hit them harder than others. Young girls playing football know that Goal No. 5 - Gender Equality is important. Also No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, Climate Action, Life Below Water and Life on Land not forgetting Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and more.
