Costa Rica supports the Dana Cup

- We will make sure that our clubs receive information about the Dana Cup and encourage them to participate in the tournament in Denmark!

That was the positive response from the General Secretary at the Costa Rica Football Federation, Rafael A. Vargas Brenes after the Dana Cup representatives visited their offices in San José, in the little but huge football related country.

Costa Rica were winners of their group at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil in front of three World Champions – Uruguay, England and Italy and the little Central American nation are also making waves in Women's Soccer. Costa Rica's Women's team will participate at the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 this summer.

- We have earlier welcomed teams from Costa Rica, like Saprissa who won the Dana Cup in 2001 and we would really like to have more teams from here in the coming years, starting with this year - says Dana Cup Director, Jette Andersen.

- Costa Rica play quality football and it is highly entertaining. After their fantastic results at the World Cup, Costa Rica has become very popular and they have received many invitations from all around the World. We have fierce competition but due to the very warm welcome we received, we believe that we will receive teams from the Central American nation.

Our welcome to the Football Federation was cordial and we established some very good contacts.

Dana Cup promotion materials were handed over and now they will be sent to all clubs in Costa Rica.

In Costa Rica there was also a visit to a school that accepts young people who wish to play sport and of course football was one of the sports.
