New team from Dubai already planning to return
Even before playing their first official match at this year's Dana Cup, Empire Football Club from Dubai has already decided they will be back in 2027.
"This is our first time participating in the Dana Cup, but we are already very happy to be here," says B16 coach Amit.
Empire Football Club has entered five teams in this year's tournament.
"We have participated in the Gothia Cup for the past six years and travelled to Hjørring directly from Gothenburg in Sweden. Already, we feel that the Dana Cup is a much better experience than the Gothia Cup. One of the biggest advantages is that the pitches in the central tournament area are much closer together, which makes us feel like we are constantly part of the entire event. That's really great," Amit explains.
Empire Football Club is one of the teams that chose to take part in the warm-up tournament. On Monday, the club's B16 team faced Bønnes Idrettslag from Norway, who secured a narrow 1–0 victory thanks in part to their greater physical strength.
Empire Football Club's B16 team will play its first official Dana Cup match on Tuesday at 12:20 p.m. on pitch 63 in Bjergby.
