A New Digital Era on the Football Pitches

A new electronic teammate has entered the football pitches at the Dana Cup. Alongside the whistle, a mobile phone has become the referees ’most important tool.

Teddy Mylund from Hjørring has been a referee at the Dana Cup for many years. Like all other referees, he has been used to recording results on paper and handing them in, after which the results team would enter them and update the group standings accordingly.

"Today, most of the process is electronic, and I know that some referees were sceptical and thought it might be too difficult to learn. I was one of them, but after trying the solution a few times, I can say that the system is very intuitive and easy to use," Teddy Mylund says.

"First, you log into the system and enter the match number, and immediately the names of the two teams appear on the screen. After that, it is simply a matter of getting started. Goals are entered within seconds, and the result is automatically updated in the tournament schedule. At the same time, any matches being streamed are kept up to date. When the final whistle is blown, the result is saved and immediately appears electronically, while the standings are updated at the same time," explains Teddy Mylund, who emphasises that nobody needs to be nervous about the new system.
