Dana Cup - Team Interview - Yfomac - Madagascar - Girls 17

What is the name of your team and your teams history and does your team have a Nick Name?

Yfomac Madagascar is a local community association established in 1984, run by my family with no external income or funding. This has been our legacy and a labor of passion and commitment to youth development from generation to generation. But I founded Yfomac Initatives in 2019, which is the 1st ever soccer school for girls in our country.

The primary goal is to create opportunities for girls from grassroots communities and underprivileged backgrounds to play football in a safe, supportive environment. We currently have more than 150 players from U6 to the senior level. Many of which have never travelled or competed internationally, and our work is entirely driven by the desire to help these young women dream and grow, on and off the pitch, regardless of the conditions in Madagascar, which is unfortunately one of the world’s poorest countries.

What does it mean for you to play in the Dana Cup and what are your goals and expectations at the Dana Cup 2026?

We believe this tournament offers an exceptional platform for our girls to showcase their talent on a global stage, all while enjoying the unique experience of representing not only Madagascar but the entire African continent. The Dana Cup’s reputation as one of the world’s most prestigious and inclusive youth football tournaments makes it the perfect venue for our players to grow, compete, be inspired and be part of something I would say magical.

Dana Cup supports Football for the Goals - it is a United Nations initiative that provides a platform for the global football community to engage with and advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We ask all teams to pick at least 1 Global Goals that they support and will play for at the Dana Cup, which goal does your team support and would like to play for? More information: Football for the Goals and The Global Goals

We support and will play for the Global Goals; 5 - Gender Equality and 15 - Life on Land. We want our girls to follow their dreams with equal opportunities and preserve Madagascar's nature which is unique with an isolated biodiversity and many plants and animals found nowhere else on the planet.
