Danish Mother Paved the Way
From Canada to Hjørring

North Vancouver FC from the western part of Canada is participating in the Dana Cup for the first time. And it was actually quite by chance that the club with as many as 3,600 players heard about the tournament in Hjørring.

‘A mother of one of our players comes from Denmark and recommended us to participate in the Dana Cup,‘ coach for G14, Robbie Tice, says. He is also Technical Director at North Vancouver FC.

‘Of course we play to win, and the first two matches also resulted in a win and a draw, and we hope to go far, but otherwise the Dana Cup is primarily a great experience for our girls. Many of them have never been outside the borders of Canada and of course never in Europe either, so that alone is a great experience for them. Here they meet football teams from other countries, they meet a completely new culture, so of course there is also a social experience by being part of the Dana Cup, ‘ he points out.

‘The conditions are fantastic. We live at Fyrklit in Hirtshals and have a fabulous view of the water and just a few minutes to the beach. It is of course expensive for us to travel to Denmark, but the girls have worked hard to raise money for the trip. We think the Dana Cup is such a good experience that we hope to be able to come again next year, perhaps with more teams, ‘Robbie Tice emphasizes.
