DJK SV Bunnen - G15 - Germany

1. Tell us briefly the name of your club and where you come from, your history?

Bunnen is a small village in the district of Cloppenburg and belongs to the town of Löningen.

Our girls' team consists of talented and motivated girls between the ages of 12 and 14 who live within a 50 km radius of Bunnen. We play as an all-girls team in the C-Youth Boys’ League, 1st County Division, and finished mid-table last year. It's important to note that about a third of the girls are actually still eligible to play in the D-Youth level, meaning they often have to compete against boys who are a head taller and twice as heavy.

Why do we play in a boys’ league? Simply because there are no equivalent girls’ teams in the nearby area. To still play against other girls from time to time, we regularly organize friendly matches against U15 teams from Arminia Bielefeld, Werder Bremen, Hannover 96, or older women’s teams.

This year, we again participated in the performance test in Frankfurt, where we faced teams like Frankfurt, Slavia Prague, Mönchengladbach, etc.

2. Tell us what participating in the Dana Cup means for you and your team/s?

It’s a highlight every year to participate in the Dana Cup, and the anticipation among the girls is huge. Some of the girls are taking part in the Dana Cup for the third time this year.

3. What are your goals and expectations at the Dana Cup 2025?

After last year’s semifinal exit and 3rd place finish, we are hoping for another chance to improve this year.

4. Dana Cup supports Football for the Goals - it is a United Nations initiative that provides a platform for the global football community to engage with and advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We ask all teams to pick at least 1 of the Global Goals that they support and will play the Dana Cup, which goal does your team support and would like to play for? More information: Football for the Goals and Global Goals

We support all of the Global Goals.
