Huge American interest in the Dana Cup
Around 10.000 American football coaches and leaders had the opportunity to become acquainted with the Dana Cup in Hjørring when the event was presented at the United Soccer Coaches Convention 2024 in Anaheim near Los Angeles.
Alison Leigh Forman, Jette Andersen, and Bob Knudsen Andersen embarked on a longstanding tradition when they gathered inspiration in California while also informing many Americans and other nations about what one can experience in Hjørring during the Dana Cup tournament.
For many, it was a real eye-opener to learn about the Dana Cup, which welcomes over 1.000 teams from 45 nations each summer. The opportunity to meet so many different peers on the football field created wonder and piqued curiosity. That's something they would like to experience.
The Dana Cup delegation talked with coaches and club officials who have already decided to travel to the Dana Cup with several teams this year.
Over the years, there have been many American teams participating in the Dana Cup (1.104) and now the American interest is rapidly increasing again.
Dana Cup's booth in California received quite a lot of visits from young football players who could imagine the experience in Denmark and they were further motivated through Dana Cup souvenirs, which can constantly remind them of where they will encounter the great football experience.
For Dana Cup's employees in California, it was an inspiring experience on several fronts.
During the three days that the exhibition was open, there were also meetings with partners. Among other things, there was a good conversation with SELECT Director Peter Knap when SELECT´S booth was visited. The Dana Cup matches in 2023 were played with SELECT´S sustainable PLANET ball.
Everyone expressed great enthusiasm for the experiences in California and expects to already see the effects of the American outreach this summer.
