Without Volunteers, No Dana Cup
‘Without the many volunteers, there would be no Dana Cup,’ emphasises volunteer coordinator, Kristoffer Jensen, adding ‘on Monday almost 700 volunteers made sure that the Dana Cup ran smoothly, but everyday approximately 60 new volunteers sign up, so we will probably be around 800-900 volunteers only from Fortuna Hjørring during the week. Overall, there are 4,000 volunteers at the Dana Cup.’
Thanks to the many volunteers, a special teamwork is created around the many joint tasks that must be solved at the Dana Cup, but with the premise that this can only happen if everyone works together. Moreover, a special bond is created between the volunteers at the Dana Cup.
‘We find that a better parental bond is created around the individual teams, in general. But it doesn't just stop with the parents. This year we also have several grandparents who want to support their grandchildren,’ says Kristoffer Jensen, who, as far as possible, ensures that the family members can do their shifts together.
‘All in all, our volunteers create a special environment that feels safer and nicer to be a part of - precisely because you know each other as something more than just another parent, grandparent or coach,’ explains Kristoffer, while he coordinates the tasks with U13 coach Klaus Brødsgaard from Fortuna Hjørring.
