Thorsten in the Tournament Jury

 First Thorsten Vekens was a referee at Dana Cup. Then for a short time, he also visited Dana Cup as a coach for a delegation of new referees in his home region, Cologne, in Germany. Today, Torsten is one of three members of the tournament jury. They deal with the protests, the interpretation of the rules and all matters of doubt.

'As a matter of fact, we have more international referees than local referees,' he underlines. Consequently, at a tournament of this size careful planning is needed.

'Since last year's Dana Cup, surely, I have been in Hjørring three times; twice to talk about Dana Cup and once due to a project week,' he says.

In addition to his professional tasks, he also has a very close relationship with Dana Cup. 'For 18 years I have been coming to Dana Cup and, naturally, I know a lot of people by now. Thus, I always enjoy returning,' Thorsten stresses.
