Tell us your story - Chadwick International School Songdo - Korea Republic - B11

Tell us briefly the history of your club / team?

Chadwick International is looking forward to its inaugural adventure to Europe this summer, culminating in the Dana Cup 2018. Our team of 2007 birth year boys has been playing together for close to 3 years now.  They have played mainly in the international school competitions in Korea and have also represented Chadwick School as far away as Singapore.  This talented group of friends comes from many parts of the world.  Amongst our team, we have boys from Korea, Canada, Venezuela, Peru, Australia and the USA. As our team is made up of many international parts we were seeking a tournament that can provide quality in terms of the teams, organization, weather, pitches and a truly international experience.  All of that was easily found in Hjorring at the Dana Cup 2018.

Is it your first time in the Dana Cup if not how many times has your club participated?

Having played in the Dana Cup myself, I knew that late July in and around Hjorring would be the ideal trip for our families. As a 16 year old I got to experience my first taste of European soccer in the summer of 1988, watching Holland lift the European Championship and ending our trip at the Dana Cup.  Even as a teenager, I was aware of what a special tournament the Dana Cup is.  As kids we were able to meet other players from all over the world while staying at schools with many other teams, between the matches we were constantly mingling and making friends and the activities for the older players during the evenings were a blast.  Now 30 years later I cannot wait to see our youngsters getting to know other people, cultures, and customs while expanding their own soccer IQ.

What are your goals and expectations for the Dana Cup 2018?

I keep telling these boys they are amongst the most fortunate kids on earth to have supportive parents and communities that provide these types of opportunities, and I am sure once they experience their first Dana Cup they will all consider themselves very very lucky.

See you this July - Kely Jacobson - Chadwick International School Songdo
