A Warm Welcome to Hjørring
“Since 1982, the Dana Cup has welcomed more than half a million young people from all over the world. It's quite unique to think about, so you can give yourselves a warm welcome.”
So said Hjørring's 1st Deputy Mayor, Per Møller, when he welcomed the managers and coaches of the registered teams and invited guests at the traditional VIP evening.
“When we stand here and look at so many people, hear so many different languages, so many cultures all united in one common goal, to give young people an unforgettable experience, it fills our hearts with joy.”
“Tonight, it is you, the team leaders, coaches and organizations we salute for your dedication, your energy and your willingness to travel all the way to Vendsyssel with sleeping bags, team bags and a suitcase full of hope.”
“And remember that no matter who goes home with the trophies, you have already won something much bigger: you have given the young people experiences they will remember for the rest of their lives," Per Møller pointed out.
