Dana Cup is a new Climate Partner in Hjørring Municipality
Dana Cup is now officially a Climate Partner with Hjørring Municipality – a collaboration we are both proud and excited to join. Together with 71 other climate partners, we are part of a strong network working to promote sustainability, green transition and collective climate action.
An ambitious goal
The partnership agreements are a key part of the municipality’s climate action plan, which aims for an impressive 86% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 – a target that actually exceeds the Paris Agreement. To reach such ambitious results, it is crucial that the municipality, businesses, citizens and civil society work together. As Mayor Søren Smalbro puts it:
“It is clear that with such an ambitious plan, the municipality cannot achieve it alone. Success depends on good and constructive cooperation between citizens, businesses, and civil society, which is why it is encouraging to see so many local actors supporting the effort and being willing to contribute.”
Our responsibility as an international tournament
Dana Cup’s Director, Jette Andersen, states:
“As one of the world’s largest youth football tournaments, we have both a responsibility and a unique opportunity to make a difference – for our participants, guests and local community. This partnership marks another important step in our work with sustainability and the green transition. We look forward to contributing, learning and creating new solutions – together.”
Together for the future
Becoming a Climate Partner is not only about commitments – it is also about community, inspiration and the will to make a difference. For Dana Cup, it is natural to be part of this effort. Every year, we gather thousands of young people from across the globe and we believe that sport can be a driving force for both community and change.
Through this partnership, we aim to strengthen our sustainability initiatives – and we look forward to learning from the other partners, sharing our own experiences and together creating solutions that reach far beyond the municipality’s borders.
