Typical Sports Injuries at the Dana Cup
Today Thøger Persson Krogh is in Dana Cup's MASH tent. On a daily basis, he is the head doctor at the sports medicine centre at Vendsyssel Hospital and associated with Team Denmark. Previously, he was first a doctor for the Danish women's national team and then the men's national team.
The nature of the fields plays a big role in which injuries are expected to occur during a tournament like the Dana Cup.
‘Normally we see a lot of blisters, and they are probably the ones that form the most this year. However, it is mostly in the hot summers, so I don't think quite as many will form this year as in the past,’ Thøger Persson Krogh says.
He also expects that many ankle sprains will occur. Thus, if you happen to have a sprained ankle, there are several different ways to treat it, depending on how bad the ankle is.
‘Perhaps you can continue to play on the ankle if you put a good tape on it. If, on the other hand, we are afraid that there is major damage to the ligament or perhaps even worse; that you could have broken a bone, then you have to go to the hospital and have X-rays taken,’ Thøger Persson Krogh says.
The MASH tent is located between Fortuna's clubhouse and field 2, should you need medical attention.
