Waste is Sorted with Great Care

Waste is a resource. Therefore, it makes good sense to sort waste in order to reuse as much as possible. At the Dana Cup all waste is weighed and sorted with the utmost care.

'Basically, we sort in many waste fractions. Unfortunately, plastic plates cannot be recycled. On the other hand, soft plastic, both clear and coloured, can be recycled and, consequently, it is sorted separately', says Nina Malkin, who is responsible for waste sorting during the Dana Cup.

'We sort bio-waste; for instance surplus food from meals is picked up by various organisations that subsequently distribute it to people who have a need. Moreover, metal cans, glass and bottles are sorted. We are close to sorting between 85 and 90 percent of our waste',

Nina Malkin notes with satisfaction.
