From Hjørring to Kibera – Dana Cup jerseys with purpose and global connection

In May 2025, Dana Cup donated 298 jerseys to students from the top-up program in International Sales and Marketing at UCN Aalborg. The purpose was clear: to combine the unifying power of football with the students’ global perspective – and to pass something meaningful forward.

The jerseys were handed over shortly before departure in Aalborg – and in their luggage, the students carried not just a donation, but a message of hope, community, and opportunity.

More than a study trip

The students travelled to Kenya to explore Emerging Markets, entrepreneurship and innovation. Their program included business visits, social projects, and academic exchange with Strathmore University in Nairobi.

But one destination stood out: Kibera – the largest urban slum in Nairobi, home to more than 250,000 people. Life here is marked by daily struggles with poverty, insecurity and lack of access to education, nutrition and healthcare.

Supporting ‘From Kibera With Love’

In Kibera, the students partnered with the local non-profit From Kibera With Love, founded in 2013 by Marta Baeta, who stayed in Kibera after a volunteer trip to support children and families in a sustainable and compassionate way.

Today, the organization supports over 70 children and their families with:

  • Education and tuition
  • Meals and nutrition
  • Healthcare and hygiene
  • Clothing and school supplies
  • Recreational activities and family support

Jerseys that carry meaning

When the Dana Cup jerseys were distributed to the children in Kibera, it spread happiness and smiles to both the students, children and young people.

Watch the journey unfold – from Aalborg to Nairobi – and witness moments where the Dana Cup spirit spreads.

The Dana Cup Spirit – lived and shared

At the Dana Cup, we believe football is a universal language. It brings people together, builds bridges and inspires purpose. This initiative is a reminder that even small actions – like a jersey – can spark something greater.

We thank the UCN students for carrying The Dana Cup Spirit out into the world. Because Dana Cup is more than a tournament. It’s a movement.
