How to avoid sports injuries according to former Denmark team doctor
According to the head doctor at the sports medicine centre at Vendsyssel Hospital and former doctor for Denmark's national football team, Thøger Persson Krogh, the arrangement of the Dana Cup in the middle of the summer holidays entails an increased risk of sports injuries.
‘The players may not have trained and played matches for four to six weeks. When they then have to play several matches a day, they go from nothing to a huge load," Thøger Persson Krogh says.
In order to prevent injuries, you must, as always, warm up, if you ask the doctor. In addition, it is extra important to listen to the body's signals.
‘You have to think carefully, and it is very difficult, because you have come to play as much as possible. However, you must not ignore if the body signals that you should not continue playing. You have to react to that, because otherwise the risk is that you will get an injury that lasts for a long time," Thøger Persson Krogh states.
